The beer was a huge hit. I’m super excited and happy about it. I received several compliments from beer drinkers alike and three people said its the best home brew they’ve ever had. I brought 32 beers and at the end of night there were none of mine left in the cooler. Two people even took some home. A serious feeling of accomplishment.
Today went quite smooth with the brewing I think. No accidents or anything crazy and only a few close calls to serious boil overs. Like I said before, its a much different perspective. I’ve helped friends brew before and have been very involved but brewing your own batch is much different and way better. As a helper, well, you just help. The focus on the beer itself is much greater when you do it yourself. In a weird way it becomes very personal. As for anything, you learn the more you do it. What I’m finding is that it seems like timing, sanitizing, and prep are key. The ingredients are the ingredients and its what makes the beer but those three things require much detail and are extremely helpful. Its a lot of work but its fun work. Would I do it again? You bet your ass I will. And soon too.
Plans to meet up with Bill, Brian, and Rachel fell apart today because of work. Its been a rough week but I was able to catch up on some sleep with a solid nap when I got home. I think now its time to work on this extremely messy apartment of mine.
